Janet Lodder Brown
February 3, 1949 — October 24, 2023
Our greatly loved mother, sister, aunt, Nanny, and best friend returned home much earlier than expected on October 24th, 2023, in Temecula, California at the age of 74 after a short illness.
Jan was born February 3rd, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Johannes and Vivian Lamont Lodder. She attended Skyline High School where she met her lifelong companion and husband David Glen Brown. Jan and Dave married April 16th, 1968, and were later sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2018. Throughout their time together, wherever Jan was Dave was never far behind; they were inseparable.
Jan worked at Taxworks (later became H&R Block) for 23 years. She enjoyed much success in her professional life and enjoyed her work in H. R. management. Jan was always the “go to” problem solver, therapist and confidant to many colleagues and friends at work. She loved what she did and was grateful for her time there. She also helped Dave run a successful landscaping business “Brown Landscaping,” for over 35 years.
Nothing ever superseded Jan’s love for her family; above all else, family always came first. She was an amazing grandma, lovingly known as “Nanny” to her 4 grandsons. She adored each boy and was very involved in their lives. Many camping, fishing, boating and Mexico trips were planned so the family could all be together. Nanny made the best waffles after a sleepover. All the grandkids loved to be around her and she always made them feel loved.
Never was a mother more loved than by her 3 children, Christopher, Joshua, and Lindsay. She was their ultimate best friend and talked with them each day. They were easily her greatest accomplishment in life. She loved her children fiercely.
Jan was a very classy lady who had a great eye for design and all things beautiful. She loved the sun, the ocean, Mexico, pickleball, nice cars, riding her bike, family, shopping, and lunch at a fine Mexican restaurant with a Pepsi.
She’d always say, “everything can be fixed as long as no one dies”. Unfortunately, this cannot be fixed and we will miss and love you forever mom. XxOo

She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Vivian Kate, and husband David Glen Brown. She is survived by sons Christopher and Joshua, daughter Lindsay (Alastair) and 4 grandsons. Everett, Westin, Shepard, Easton, and puppy Jack. She is also survived by sisters Judy Habashi and Lisa Miner and brothers Scott Lodder and John Lodder.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, where friends and family may gather between 9:45 and 10:45 a.m. at Russon Mortuary - 295 N. Main St. Bountiful, Utah. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held for the family at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Lakeview Cemetery – 1640 E. Lakeview Dr. Bountiful, Utah.
